Editorial Standards & Corrections Policy
What you can expect from every story on Gathered, and how we fix it when we get something wrong.
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Sources we use
Live coverage on Gathered comes from the public RSS feeds of established news organisations such as BBC News, Al Jazeera, The New York Times, The Times of India, NDTV, The Hindu, TechCrunch, The Verge, ESPN and The Economist. Our editors review the list of sources regularly and remove feeds that are unreliable or no longer maintained. Every story names its original publisher and links to the original report.
How we use AI
- Summaries of publishers' stories are written with AI from the text of that report only. The AI is instructed not to add facts, quotes or figures.
- Every AI-assisted summary is labelled "AI summary" and links to the source.
- Gathered Originals may be drafted with AI assistance, but an editor reviews, fact-checks and approves them before publication, and they are marked as AI-assisted.
- AI search briefings are generated only from the headlines shown with them.
Accuracy and verification
Originals are checked against primary sources (official statements, documents, data) or at least two independent reputable reports before publication. Claims we cannot verify are attributed to whoever made them, or left out.
Corrections
If we publish something inaccurate, we correct it as quickly as possible and update the story's "Updated" time. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article. To report an error, please use our contact form. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
Independence and ethics
Editorial decisions are independent of advertisers. Advertising is clearly labelled and never presented as news. We aim for neutral, fair language and avoid sensational headlines. We respect the intellectual property of publishers; headlines and images remain theirs, and we honour requests to remove content.
